Description
A beautiful portrait of a male muscovy duck taken at a local marina. I first encountered these ducks when I started birdwatching a few years ago. I would see them at the various lakes and ponds in the area. Despite their caruncle or wart like faces I really enjoy watching and photographing them.
Muscovy ducks are generally large and heavy bodied with a long neck that can make them resemble small geese. These domesticated ducks can come in various colors including black, blue, chocolate, piebald, white, lavender, bronze and ripple.
For this shot I made it darker around the edges while highlighting the face and the neck of the duck. It reminded me of the portrait style done in high school.
