Description
A close up shot of a Eastern Gray squirrel that comes up to the bird feeders a couple of times a week. It is the only squirrel I have seen in the neighborhood and sometimes I won't see it for 4 even 5 days. It's a very curious squirrel who just eats off the ground and does not climb on my feeders which I find very surprising. This is part 3 of a 4-part sequence catching its mannerisms.
In this shot after eating through the sunflower seed I got this look like its wondering why I'm still taking pictures when it's trying to eat.
The eastern gray squirrel is the most common and frequently observed of North Carolinaโs five tree squirrel species. The gray squirrel is found in every county and was adopted as the state mammal in 1969. Gray squirrels are enjoyed by wildlife-watchers and hunters alike, but they can be a nuisance when they cause property damage
