Description

Found my great blue heron buddy in its usual spot today on the fishing pier. It didn't give me many mannerisms today, so I went with this shot in the late afternoon with some glow and a dark background.

They are year around visitors to the Shelley Lake area located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The great blue herons often have a rookery on the other side of the lake, and you can get a great view of the rookery from near the location of the eagle's nest
